When it comes to choosing the type of material you want to use to build your deck, you have a variety of choices. Even if you know you want a wood-look, you need to decide between natural wood, pressure treated wood or a composite. All three can do a good job. There are differences, however, in both pros and cons, and that is where you need to decide what your personal needs require.

Pressure treated wood is infused with a variety of preservatives that make it resistant to both rot and insect infestations. The wood is placed in a special air-tight container and waterborne chemicals are forced into the wood. It is then allowed to dry and is ready for use in building. This effectiveness of the pressure treatment depends a great deal on the type of wood being treated.
We have extensive experience installing your pressure-treated decking. At APCO, we use only the pressure-treated woods that are free from warping and other blemishes in appearances. We do not feel you should have to settle for an imperfect appearance in order to have more resistance to rot. Quality is not a trade-off in our eyes.

If the wood is left uncoated and unpainted, it is prone to turning grey over time as it is subjected to the changes in weather. If your deck is made from pressure-treated wood, you need to reseal it once a year to keep it at its best. The same goes for painting. If you have painted your deck, it may become chipped and the paint will fade. It needs repainted yearly to retain its just-installed beauty.
Pressure-treated decks have several advantages over untreated wood, including:
